The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a Parks Maintenance Worker Irrigator, in the Parks and Recreation Department. 

WORK PERFORMED:

• Repairs and install irrigation systems for all City Parks and Facilities
• Assists in the construction and maintenance of park facilities and City Buildings
• Maintain and upkeep the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and structures
• Perform routine grounds maintenance, including watering, fertilizing, cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, planting plants, filling in holes, and picking up litter and other debris
• Drives truck, tractor mower, and other vehicles to perform maintenance duties
• Services and cleans vehicles and equipment
• Operates weed eaters, edgers, power saws, and other equipment
• Assists with setting up the annual Fourth of July, Santa in the Park, Flap Jack Fun Run and other departmental sponsored events
• Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• IRRIGATION KNOWLEDGE IS A MUST
• A minimum of two years' experience
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Basic knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of hand tools, testing instruments, and small power tools
• Basic knowledge of the operation of a tractor, generator, and mosquito sprayer
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry and electrical work.
• Basic HVAC knowledge is desirable.

A valid Texas driver's license is required, with a good driving record.

Position may require 24 hour availability during emergency conditions.
